HARLEM RENAISSANCE WEEKEND - Murder Mystery Dinner Theater

Notify me when back in stock

A Murder Mystery Dinner Theater is scheduled for 6-8PM at the 100 Men Hall. Featuring celebrity mixologist Taariq David’s custom cocktail honoring the Harlem Renaissance and dinner served by local chef Big Bertha. Tickets are $40 and include dinner, one custom Harlem Renaissance cocktail, wine and beer offered to attendees aged 21 and over. Cash/credit bar available for everything else.

The Murder Mystery is set during Prohibition times in keeping with the Hall's Harlem Renaissance weekend. Community members have assumed new names and personalities as the audience engages in a whodunnit? the likes of which you've never experienced before - Dinner, Loose Women, Real Life Crime, Libations - what's not to love?

Friday’s dinner will be prepared by Bertha Parker whose passion for soul food puts the secret ingredient – flavor – in every dish she creates. After years of working at a grill and catering business, Bertha and her family owned a full-service restaurant in Slidell, and seven years ago she came to Bay Saint Louis to start her own catering company, Big Bertha’s Kitchen and Catering.

Bay Saint Louis’ iconic 100 Men Hall will continue its year-long Centennial Year Celebration with its third event, Harlem Renaissance Weekend, February 3-5, 2023.

The eclectic, three-day event will include a murder mystery dinner theater, costume gala, dance performance, the unveiling of an 80 x 58” painting commemorating the Harlem Renaissance by Ayo Scott, a craft cocktail creation by Taariq David, and a commemorative, letterpress poster created by Kennedy Prints.

February’s Weekend, says Dangermond, will continue to educate the general public about the amazing homegrown talent that sprung up from the African American community in this area. The weekend pays homage to Bay Saint Louis’ native Richmond Barthé, whose sculptures and paintings are considered among classic examples of Harlem Renaissance artistry.

The year-long celebration is made possible by a grant from the MS Coast National Heritage Area. All programming updates, activity dates, times and ticket prices, sales and availability can be found on the 100 Men Hall’s website –
