BBQ & Blues with Alvin Youngblood Hart
Join us at the 100 Men Hall on Friday, May 15, from 7PM-10PM for a rare unplugged night of the BLUES sponsored by The Silver Slipper. Master guitarist and vocalist Alvin Youngblood Hart is coming to the 100 Men Hall for the first time to join the greats who have played this historic stage. BBQ for purchase by Murky Waters.
Hart was born in Oakland, California, and spent time in Carroll County, Mississippi, in his youth, where he was influenced by the Mississippi country blues performed by his relatives. Hart is known as one of the world's foremost practitioners of country blues, one of the earliest forms of blues music.
Along with his 40 years of playing comes a nuts and bolts passion for the hardware of the trade. “I’ve been a guitar tinker since day one. I can recall my parents buying me a new guitar, and I would have every screw out of it by bedtime”.
Food will be for purchase by Murky Waters, named the best barbecue on the Coast by the Sun Herald since 2015. Murky Waters will serve their award winning dry-rub Mississippi BBQ.
The 100 Men Hall is grateful to have the Silver Slipper Casino and Hotel as our music sponsor. The Silver Slipper understands the value of this historical (federal 501c3 nonprofit) African American landmark and the importance of the Hall’s mission to continue the sacred act of presenting live music.
